New Inking & Washup System on SCHIAVI 8 Colors

BFT FLEXO will be showcasing its latest inking and automatic washing systems for the printing industry at Print4All scheduled on May 3-6, 2022. Special attention will be paid in particular to the latest version of the GT1-PP automatic inking and washing system with its new consumption control module. The latter is a topic that has prompted the Monferrato-based company to develop a dedicated kit to be applied to both new and existing systems. This module can precisely monitor consumption of energy, such as electricity and compressed air, as well as ink and solvent/water used to produce the job order. This way it will be possible at last to truly express the cost of many variables of the print job and that previously were only estimated, with a large margin of error. BFT CARBON, on the other hand, will be presenting the latest in carbon fibre doctoring chambers dedicated not only to the flexographic world, but also to offset and rotogravure. On this occasion, the latest doctor blade chamber models dedicated to the corrugated sector will be presented, ready to be quickly installed on the machines of the most popular manufacturers. Also, for the corrugated sector, visitors will be introduced to the new conversion package, capable of transforming rubber roller printing units into doctor blade chamber units on ceramic anilox. This conversion allows obtaining excellent printing performances, able to perform printed jobs that previously could not be carried out on this type of unit (barcode, qr-code, and so on). Additionally, thanks to the collaboration with BFM based in Solbiate Olona (VA), it will be possible to organise visits to their demo centre during the days of the fair to view the latest version of the Sirio S Plus flexographic printing machine stack, equipped with BFT Flexo systems. New GT-Corr Installed by Technoflex Inc in USA

In February, two innovative inking and washup systems from BFT Flexo were installed on a Langston 196-in. jumbo corrugated post-print machine at Technoflex Inc. GT-Corr is a complete system, equipped with PLC, touch screen and a new manifold designed by BFT.

This BFT Flexo system is developed to give stable speed control of both the feed and return pumps during the printing process. The new BFT manifold is able to reverse the feed pump, allowing up to 100 percent recovery of all the ink present in the doctor blade system as well as the supply lines. The GT-Corr system offers various washup options for complete cleaning of the blade system, ink lines and anilox roller.

Based on tests carried out during production changeover, 90 percent of the ink typically lost during washup was recaptured by the BFT GT-Corr and washup water was reduced by 30 percent. During a simulation with different units, for a 4-color corrugated post-print machine with chamber doctor blades, 110-in. anilox length, an average of two changeovers per shift,  two shifts a day, a return on investment can be observed after only 10 months. Adding savings in time/materials, the ROI is limited to eight months, according to BFT Flexo.

Additional options available for the GT-Corr system include ink temperature and viscosity control. The BFT GT-Corr system also offers on screen blade system pressure adjustment as well as blade life tracking.

Neil Livesey, president of Technoflex and official American distributor of BFT Flexo, said, ”The GT-Corr system was easily installed and our customer was very happy with the results. The system has been operational for two weeks with our customer seeing less ink usage and reduced changeover times. I would class this as a perfect compliment to any corrugated post-print machine ”
